Rock Climbing

Rock ClimbingRock Climbing To Top

The Georgian Triangle has a number of challenging climbs and the scenery is awesome. The popular Metcalfe Rock is one of Ontario’s oldest climbing areas. Great top roping, traditional and sport climbing here. Access is easy and close to the road, following the Bruce Tail. Pinnacle Rock is directly across from Metcalfe Rock and receives the morning sun. An extra bonus are the crevices and caves that surround it. Old Baldy is another amazing limestone cliff located close to Kimberley. You need a permit from theGrey Sauble Conversation Authority (519-376-3076) but it’s worth it for the incredible view. Get in on the action and take a climbing lesson or a tour. To get started with lessons or tours, see the member’s section to contact the variety of member tour operators. Rock climbing can be very dangerous without the knowledge of proper safety techniques. We recommend that if you are a beginner to this sport that you take a course and/or receive personalized climbing instruction. Free spirit Tours offers great instruction and comes highly recommended.

You'll put on a wetsuit and helmet, then brace yourself. This is the place. Over the next few hours, we trek down through a lush forested river gorge, deep spectacular canyons and lots of water. Think "Rambo" wading through rivers, over fallen trees and rocks.

Imagine yourself in surrounded by lush rainforest atop a magical canyon; full of tropical waterfalls with surprises each step of the way. This awesome canyon is located a short distance from the town of Roseau and is divided into three sections - all have an easy access from the road. Prepare to get wet as your experienced guides assist you as you make your way down a series of 7 amazing rappels! This adventure is perfect for those looking to combine the thrill of abseiling breath taking, hundred foot waterfalls while taking in the beauty of the forest.

Come Canyoning with us... the action happens where the rock meets the water, in rivers hidden by the virgin rainforest. The idea is to climb over waterfalls, swim through blue pools, hike over riverbeds, rappel and abseil into the base of the cascade; using the natural environment as our adventure park.

Tiger Hills Trekking

Tiger Hills TrekkingTiger Hill, about 12 km from Darjeeling, is a mecca for tourists visiting the mountains. Trekking in tiger hills is just apt for extreme adventure adrenaline junkies. It is most famous for its sunrising site. Trekking in this terrain provides the most exotic view of the Kanchenjunga traversing through bamboo bushes rhododendron forest. The view of Mt. Everest from this point is sedating. Access to a watch tower is also possible while trekking here. The Tiger Hills can be reached by jeep, but you even can trek to the top. The best time to visit tiger hills is March to May and September to November.

Tiger Hills TrekkingTrekking in Ghoom - a small hilly locality in Darjeeling - will take us to Ghoom railway station, the highest rail station in India, and Ghoom monastery, one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries located just below Ghoom railway station, to see an enshrined image of Maitreya Buddha. From Ghoom you can also visit Senchel sanctuary, which offers great picnic spots, and its two artificial lakes serve as a reservoir for supply of water to Darjeeling town. Many tourists are attracted towards "Senchal Lake" near by Senchel sanctuary for its picturesque beauty of water and blue sky. How about enjoying a picnic in this highest golf course and picnic spot in the world. Exciting trek......indeed.

Why do people take up the extreme sport of rock climbing? Because it is there, taunting and tempting. It offers adventure and challenge from the rocky ever-present edge of death. Rock climbing calls for control and courage. It involves great strength of mind and body. It is both an individual and social sport as the element of danger whets the appetite for adventure. How do you know if you are a climber meant for this fearless adventure sport? Either you are jump-out-of-your-skin-excited about scaling a vertical piece of stone, or you aren’t. Take a look at these rock climbers and their stunning natural surroundings to see if you are tempted to take up this sport.
Rock climbing is all about balance, but creativity and concentration are also required. Climbing is a physically challenging and a mentally demanding sport. It will test your endurance as you climb to your goal, the summit. So have a plan, focus, keep going, hang in there and don’t let go. Rock climbing will take you to a new level of awareness of the natural world around you, taking you to breathtakingly beautiful places as you discover new aspects about yourself. This dangerous sport also requires trust; when you fall, and you will fall, you have to trust your climbing partner completely with your life. Bonus, adrenaline adventures will be found. At the top you will want to raise your arms in victory and woot your win!
If it’s not enough adventure, not enough of a challenge to climb this awesome 213 foot rock, how about tightrope walking between cliffs? One climber fell from a slackline which was strung between the 65-meter high Totem Pole and the mainland at Cape Hauy, Tasmania, Australia.

"My Cumbrian roots and the world class outdoor adventure we have here have prepared me for climbs such as Everest and other adventures on some of the greatest cliffs in the world. I frequently travel to the most far flung corners of the Earth in pursuit of ever more extreme adventure"
.

"In between such expeditions there is nowhere I'd rather be than at home in the Lake District, Cumbria. The mountain and outdoor sports we have here are as enjoyable as anywhere in the world (and the beer is better!). As local lad it is a great honour to be appointed Ambassador for the Adventure Capital UK bid. My aim is to help promote our unique and dramatic region and to inspire visitors to get out and taste the adventure."

Climbing

ClimbingClimbing in The wall

The thought of rock climbing may evoke images of adventure seekers battling the elements while scaling the slopes of Mount Everest. In actuality, the sport takes place both indoors and out. Rock climbing can be a chance to commune and compete with nature or a race up the climbing wall at your local gym.

Rappel: word that belongs to french, which means to join, to take. It was used at the begining for the jumping tecnic or to capture the injuries in the rocky walls. The rapell is a slow down in a rope, and you can control the speed while you are going down.
