Oregon, the Great Outdoor Adventure

Tired of going through the motions of living a city life? Take a step out into the great outdoors and breathe the freshest of fresh air there is. It’s time to feel the great expanse of wide open space somewhere and that perfect place is Oregon. Whether you enjoy camping or staying in a hotel, there are plenty of places out there that can accommodate you in your great adventure.

The first place we recommend visiting in the Oregon outdoors is the Hood River. Take a look at the fantastic view at the Columbia River Gorge. There’s a trail with a series of waterfalls there. You can go fishing or just watch the salmon go upstream. You can try whitewater rafting if you’re into the adrenaline rush. Flowers and wildlife abound here. Photography and sightseeing enthusiasts will not be disappointed.

As you go south, you can experience hiking in the Mt. Hood Wilderness. There are plenty of spots here for the skiers and among those is on Timberline’s Palmer Glacier. The snowiest places are actually in Mt. Hood. The amount of snow that stays on the mountain is pretty phenomenal. You can still see snow here in mid-summer.
All sorts of outdoor sports can be enjoyed in the central part of Oregon. You can do some climbing on Smith Rock. Just a caution, it’s not for the faint-hearted. You can also do some more whitewater rafting on the Deschutes River. There are about 25 golf courses in this area. Year-round Oregon is a recreational playground. In the winter you can go cross country skiing, experience a dog sled ride, go snowshoeing, snowmobiling or ice skating on Mt. Bachelor.

Further south is the Cascade Lakes. You can go fishing here or take a boat tour in Crater Lake. The island in the middle is the Wizard Island. If you’re not planning to go there, you can view the excellent water in Crater Lake, known for its depth and the clarity of its bluest water. The surrounding landscape is serenely reflected on it. It’s just breathtaking and worth taking plenty of photos.

For more relaxed appreciation of the outdoors. Klamath Lake is perfect for bird watching enthusiasts. There are also canoe trails. You’ll probably be surprised by traffic signs on the canoe trails. I’m not sure why these would be needed, but it sure makes me curious enough to want to visit to see for myself!
